From a hugely successful run in the West-End, Omid Djalili stars in THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION at the Edinburgh Festival this August.
Inside Shawshank you have two options - get busy living or get busy dying. This witty and poignant new adaptation of Stephen King’s classic tale of death and life in a men’s prison is set to be the theatre highlight of this year’s Fringe. Omid Djalili heads a powerful cast in a timeless story of hope and triumph over adversity. Written by Owen O’Neill and Dave Johns. Directed by Lucy Pitman-Wallace. ‘Outside I was as straight as they come. I had to spend time in Shawshank to become a crook’ (Andy Dufresne).

Omid will play the character of Red in a new stage production of The Shawshank Redemption. Red was played by Morgan Freeman in the 1994 film version.
OMID DJALILI LIVE@EDINBURGH: A firm favourite at the Edinburgh Festival with his legendary performances, Omid’s stand-up awards include the Time Out Award for Best Stand Up, the EMMA Award and was a South Bank Award nominee, as well as being a Perrier Award nominee. Omids live shows will run at the festival throughout August.
